Ellen Butters is principal broker/owner of EXIT Cornerstone real estate. Ellen began working for a real estate broker in 2001 in Northern Virgina and obtained her license shortly thereafter in 2002, where she worked as a buyers agent. In 2004, Ellen & her husband, Mike moved their family to Madison, Virgina and Ellen became a full time full service agent with a local franchise. In 2010 Ellen obtained her brokers license and she and her husband opened their own brokerage firm under the EXIT franchise. Ellen holds many certifications to include, Accredited Buyer Representative, Certified Distressed Property Expert, Short Sale & Foreclosure specialist. She has experience in residential sales & rentals, land and some commercial as well as property management. Ellen’s favorite part of the real estate transaction is negotiations and continues to develop this art.
Ellen & Mike live in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison County, Virginia. They are proud parents of 4 children and 2 grandchildren, living in the peaceful setting of rural America and are blessed to call it their home.

Mike is one of the owners and Associate Broker of EXIT Cornerstone Realty, located in Culpeper Virginia. He joined the EXIT Family in July 2010, and has been full-time real estate professionals in the Virginia Piedmont since 2005. He enjoys helping our valued clients buy or sell all types of real estate, from large tracts of land to short sales and foreclosures. Mike is dedicated to put forth 100% effort to every task and transaction. HIs experience spans the market and he has been on both sides of apartment, condominium, homes, land, or estates.
Mike's former life consisted of 20+ years of dedicated service to our great nation as a United States Marine Corps officer. He is a combat veteran and flew the A-4M Skyhawk and the AV-8B Harrier "Jump Jet". Stationed mainly at Cherry Point, NC, he enjoyed many "vacations"--courtesy of Uncle Sam--in places such as Kuwait (Desert Storm), Somalia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kosovo. When he wasn't overseas, he was at home training and leading Marines, in addition to helping Ellen raise four wonderful children. Mike retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in December 2002.
